Submissions overview
First and foremost, we love a good story in prose, poetry, flash, or photography/digital artwork form. Secondly, we welcome all writers and photographers, whether you have been published worldwide or this is your first story.
Submission guidelines
1. Read our 'About' page. This explains our motivation and the mission of the magazine. Become familiar with the content of past issues.
2. Submissions should be previously unpublished. This includes on your own personal website, newsletter, other print media, etc.
3. Written submissions should be in one of the following formats: .doc, .docx, .odf, .pdf, .rtf. Photography/digital artwork submissions should be in one of the following formats: JPEG, PNG, TIFF.
4. Polish it. Submit your best version of the story - turn on spell check and format properly. Double space, font size 12 and a standard font (we recommend Garamond, Verdana, or Times New Roman), and set one-inch margins.
5. Size. Just because you have a certain word limit, doesn't mean you should use it all. Tell the story in the amount of space it needs - no more and no less. Having said that, sizes of submissions should be within 20% of the following:
6. Simultaneous submissions to other publications are acceptable. However, if your work is accepted elsewhere first, please withdraw your submission.
7. Please only submit one work at a time within each category. (Limit to one each of a short story, flash fiction piece, poetry submission, and photo/digital artwork.) When the current submission is accepted or declined, a new submission may then be turned in for consideration.
A final word about content.... while the management of the magazine is Christian, stories do not have to have a Christian theme. The main requirement is that the content should edify the reader. In addition, Edify doesn't imply that challenging things cannot happen in a story - but that even out of a challenging situation, good things occur. Given the wide readership and varying levels of sensitivity - no graphic violence, crude/vulgar language including curse words, and no explicit sex. Digital artwork/photography should contain no nudity. If people are included in the artwork, a signed release should accompany the submission.

- Poetry should be 1,000 words or less per poem. (We recommend submitting more than one poem in a single document for consideration. Limit of 5 in a single submission.)
- Flash can be micro or up to 500 words. (Anything longer will be moved to the short story category.)
- Short story prose should be 4,000 words or less.
